EDS Appoints New Managing Director For Greater China and Korea Region
HONG KONG – EDS today announced the appointment of Simon Yim as managing director for the Greater China and Korea (GCK) regions. He will report directly to Kerry Purcell, vice president and managing director of EDS Asia.
Yim replaces David Wirt who will take up a new role after his current assignment to China ends. In his role as the head of EDS’ GCK region, Yim will continue to drive growth in the region and develop EDS’ position as a leading IT services company. He will lead the expansion of EDS’ China Best Shore® capability.
“Simon’s extensive IT background and leadership portfolio will help EDS take our business to the next level of growth in the GCK region,” said Purcell. “With his in-depth experience in the region, Simon is well-versed in the opportunities and challenges facing EDS and has strong connections both in the commercial and government sectors across the region.”
Before joining EDS, Simon was most recently the president at Atos Origin China, where he helped drive the re-structuring of the sales organization to grow local business. Prior to that, Yim served as a senior VP at Hinge Software, an innovative software start-up in China where the company grew from a dozen employees to over 1000 over two years. Previously, Yim held key positions in China Hewlett Packard, Digital Equipment (China) and Wang Computer Asia Pacific. He holds a Bachelor degree in Mathematics from University of London.
