EDS One of Fortune Magazine's 'America's Most Admired Companies'
17 Mar 2008
EDS has been named one of the most admired companies in America for the third year in a row by Fortune magazine in its annual listing of firms with excellent reputations.
EDS secured its spot in the information technology (IT) services category by increasing its 2008 overall score to 6.44, from a score of 5.41 in 2007.
Each year, Fortune identifies "America's Most Admired Companies" with the strongest reputations within their industries. Fortune, along with the Hay Group, compiled survey results from top executives and directors in 1,000 of the largest U.S. companies. The results were separated into 65 industry listings.
Accenture and CACI International led the IT services category with scores of 8.03 and 7.04, respectively. Companies ranked behind EDS included SAIC, Perot Systems, Computer Services Corp., VeriSign, Affiliated Computer Services and Unisys. IBM and Hewlett-Packard were listed in a separate computer category.
The ranking highlights attributes such as quality of management, financial soundness, use of corporate assets, innovation, long-term investment value, people management and quality of products and services. To be included on the list, a company's score must rank in the top half of the industry survey.
The listing is published in the March 17, 2008, issue of Fortune.
