04 Mar 2008
EDS received the 2008 Excellence in Security Award in the category of Overall Security recently presented at the Microsoft CSO Summit in Redmond, Washington. The award recognizes industry leaders for the planning, implementation and management of security programs that significantly improve their company’s security posture.
“This achievement validates EDS’ continuous commitment to providing secure solutions and protecting our customers’ data,” said Jim Alsop, vice president, Security & Privacy. “It is a global commitment that goes beyond technology safeguards, and encompasses every aspect of our work – people, systems, networks, applications and business processes – to help our clients worry less about information risk management and concentrate on their core operations.”
During the ceremony, EDS’ business-oriented approach, global scope, customer-focused solutions, advanced security practices and technologies, demonstrated leadership and the EDS Agility Alliance were highlighted as factors in EDS receiving the honor.
“EDS provides a comprehensive set of Security and Privacy solutions to our clients,” said Alsop. “Working closely with our Agility Alliance partner Microsoft, we integrate Microsoft security tools into our solutions. Currently, our Identity and Access Management offering includes a Microsoft-based Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) solution. Additionally, we use Microsoft security tools to enhance the security for Outlook Exchange and SharePoint.”
“I am excited to recognize EDS and their security initiatives as part of the 2008 Excellence in Security Awards,” said Bret Arsenault, GM/chief security advisor, US National Security Team, Microsoft. “Their business initiatives exemplify the key tenets of risk management and, by recognizing their accomplishments, we are able to highlight those initiatives as industry-recognized best practices.”
The awards were presented in four categories: Overall Excellence in Security, Excellence in Data Protection, Excellence in Identity and Access and Excellence in Secure Collaboration. EDS was selected in the category for Overall Security because of its success in creating and implementing a program as part of its overall corporate security initiative.
“I would like to thank our team of global security professionals for their hard work and dedication,” said Dave Morrow, chief security & privacy officer. “It was their leadership and customer focus towards delivering security excellence that made this recognition possible.”
“This achievement lays a strong foundation for ongoing success,” said Bryan Palma, vice president, Global Information Security. “Looking ahead to the rest of 2008 and beyond, we will continue our diligence in providing exemplary security services to our clients.”
