When this leading health insurance provider decided it needed disaster recovery and business continuity operations, EDS and alliance partner EMC designed an innovative dual-purpose strategy: leverage its existing data operations to serve its business continuity needs and enhance functionality.
This involved optimizing the insurance company's customer relationship management application housed at the insurer's EDS-managed data center and replicating 350 gigabytes of data to a new, secondary data center 22 miles away. By mirroring data at both facilities using best-in-class EMC software, we rearchitectured its IT environment to maximize availability. This new site provides a robust backup production environment, a testing environment for new applications and a staging environment Web hosting.
