Solution Helps Support the Creation of the World's Most Advanced Aircraft

Global Defense Company Case Study

Having secured the largest defense contract in history, along with another vendor, this global defense company has led a landmark venture to build the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, a stealthy, next-generation military aircraft aimed at sweeping the world fighter plane market. To make it happen, the defense contractor needed to rapidly ramp up its engineering systems before it could support the growth of engineering staffing the project would bring. Specifically, the company wanted to upgrade its current Product Lifecycle Management solution, which integrates computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided engineering (CAE) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) applications in a highly collaborative environment.

However, just one engineering license can cost as much as $22,000. With more than 1,800 engineers, this cost could have a significant impact on the program’s budget. So while the company sought to maximize its software solution for optimum engineering productivity, it also wanted to effectively manage its workstation environment and control costs.
